Cosmetology
Overview
At Hinds Community College, you can start your career through our Cosmetology program. Emphasis is placed on theory and practice involving hair styling, tinting, bleaching, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, bacteriology, sterilization, sanitation, shampooing, permanents, personality, hair cutting, scalp treatments, beauty salon management, and wigology.
Cosmetology is an exciting field, and with Hinds CC, you can be ready to take advantage of all cosmetology has to offer. You’ll gain the skills required to flourish in your career and thrive in your community, no matter what you decide to focus on. Upon completion of this course, you will be given a certificate that entitles you to take the State Cosmetology Examination for a license to become a licensed operator to operate your own shop or work with others.

To be admitted to this program a person must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have the following minimum scores on the ACCUPLACER test:
