A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Ms. Rebekah Lipscombe has dedicated much of her life to music from a young age. As a pre-college student, she participated in the Bach Festival, an annual piano competition hosted by Music Forum of Jackson at Hinds Community College. Ms. Lipscombe joined the Hinds faculty in 2022 and is thrilled to see her dreams come full circle, teaching in the same place where she was first inspired to pursue music as a career.

Following her high school graduation, Ms. Lipscombe taught private piano lessons for several years in her hometown. She then moved to Mobile, Alabama, where she studied piano at University of Mobile with Steinway Artist Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, followed by a Master of Music degree at University of Mobile. As an undergraduate student, Ms. Lipscombe was selected for the inaugural class of Student Ambassadors and was inducted into the Alpha Chi National Honor Society. She also placed in the Gulf Coast Steinway Society piano competition, the Mobile Music Teachers Association Sonata Contest, and the Alabama Music Teachers Association state competition.

Ms. Lipscombe taught Class Piano and Piano Pedagogy and was a collaborative pianist at University of Mobile, as well as the director for The Academy at Alabama School of the Arts at University of Mobile. She taught class piano at the Wilcox Foundation Music Academy in Chatom, Alabama, and has extensive experience as a church musician.

Ms. Lipscombe is a member of Music Teachers National Association, Mississippi Music Teachers Association, and Music Forum of Jackson. She serves on the executive board as the Vice President for Pre-College Performances with MMTA, and she is highly sought after as an adjudicator for piano competitions.

Maintaining an active private piano studio for over a decade, Ms. Lipscombe enjoys teaching piano and music theory to students of all ages. In addition to teaching at Hinds, she is a piano instructor at the Taylor School at Mississippi College. Ms. Lipscombe does freelance collaborative work throughout the greater Jackson area, accompanying solo vocalists and instrumentalists as well as choirs, and is a pianist at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
