Ben Bullock joined the Hinds Community College staff in 2015 as the High Brass Instructor, Jazz Band Director, and an Assistant Band Director. He holds a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance as well as a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi where he was a National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finalist and also received the Section Trumpet Award for the 2012 – 2013 trumpet studio. His teachers include Dr. Jason Bergman, Dr. Daniel Kelly, Dr. Reese Land, Scott Moore, and Sheree Lence.
Mr. Bullock has taught both High School and Middle School bands previously at Kosciusko Middle School, Milam Intermediate, and Lewisburg High School. He presently maintains a healthy High School private lesson studio in the Jackson area with numerous Mississippi Lions All-State Band and National Trumpet Competition High School Solo Division students.
At Hinds Community College, Mr. Bullock has earned the HCC Honors Institute Honored Faculty Member Award and teaches Applied High Brass lessons, Jazz Ensemble, and serves as an Assistant Director to the HCC Band Program. His duties include Marching Band, Concert Band, and show music arranger.
Mr. Bullock also enjoys a busy trumpet career with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, MSO Brass Quintet, Mississippi Brass and Percussion, and various other regional orchestra and music events.
