RAYMOND – The Fall 2016 group of honorees in the Hinds Heroes employee recognition program has been named.
Hinds Heroes are chosen because they represent the college well, provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers and constantly promote the Hinds mission of service. Heroes selected receive a lapel pin, a token of appreciation and one free day off work.
In alphabetical order, this semester’s honorees are:
Melvin Christian, of Raymond, a night shift leader in the Janitorial Department on the Raymond Campus. His duties include interior maintenance of all buildings on the campus, including floors, carpet and restrooms. He has been with Hinds for 17 years.
Reginald Dillon, of Raymond, assistant football coach and head coach for men’s and women’s track and field on the Raymond Campus. He is also the director of Sheffield-Woolley residence hall for men. He has been with Hinds for 17 years.
Deloris Garner-Knight, of Pearl, a navigator at the Jackson Campus-Nursing Allied Health Center. Her duties include assisting students in nursing and allied health areas of study navigate barriers to successful program completion. She has been with Hinds for 30 years.
Anna “Shelley” Hearn, of Vicksburg, an adviser in Financial Aid at the Vicksburg-Warren Campus. Her duties include assisting students with all forms of financial aid for their education. She has been with Hinds for six years.
Sharon Hudson, of Brandon, a department chair and district curriculum coordinator in the Business Office Technology program at the Jackson Campus-Academic/Technical Center. Her duties include scheduling courses, promoting excellence in teaching and service, advising students and maintaining accurate records and reports. She has been with Hinds for nine years.
Cindy Johnson, of Clinton, administrative assistant to the Vice President for Business Services at the Raymond Campus. Her duties include assisting the vice president with college finance and budget preparation and maintenance district-wide, assisting employees with department budget matters and training, and managing the vice president’s office. She has been with Hinds for 15 years.
Lisa Morgan, of Vicksburg, an English instructor on the Vicksburg-Warren Campus. Her duties include instructing the English curriculum on the campus. She has been with Hinds for 17 years.
Jo Ponder, of Brandon, an instructor in the Computer Programming Technology program on the Raymond Campus. Her duties include teaching, advising students, assisting in revisions to the curriculum, and student tracking. She has been with Hinds for 15 years.
Kelly Reeves, of Pelahatchie, an administrative assistant to the Academic Dean at the Rankin Campus. Her duties include assisting the dean in managing the department and an array of clerical duties that include managing classroom assignments and data entry of classes, assigning section electronic online learning resources verifying attendance. She has been with Hinds for 13 years.
Joy Rhoads, of Pearl, chair of Social Sciences and coordinator of the Honors Program on the Rankin Campus. Her duties include instructing American History, World Regional Geography and Principles of Geography, working with adjunct instructors in the department and coordinating the Honors Program on campus. She has been with Hinds for 22 years.
Denise Taylor, of Utica, administrative assistant in the Student Services Department on the Utica Campus. Her duties include assisting the dean of the department to carry out office responsibilities and coordinate office functions and procedures. She has been with Hinds for 17 years.
Cindy Smith West, of Raymond, dean of Career and Technical Education on the Raymond Campus. Her duties include oversight of all career-tech programs on the campus. She has been with Hinds for 32 years.
