Students and parents can learn about potential careers and programs that lead to those careers during a Hinds Community College Career Exploration Day at the Rankin Campus.

The Career Exploration Day will feature not only Hinds Community College programs such as Associate Degree Nursing and Diesel Equipment Technology but also local business and industries that are there to demonstrate their professions and the kinds of skilled employees they hire.

The Nov. 8 Career Exploration Day is sponsored by Baptist Health Systems, Empire Truck Services, Stribling Equipment and Hinds Community College. But the event will also feature numerous other employers with interactive displays that allow students and parents to see for themselves the potential for jobs in the community.

“Our goal is not only to inform our community about the many different career and technical programs that Hinds has to offer but also to demonstrate that there are jobs for those who are ready and willing to be trained,” said Kathryn Cole, director of Enrollment Services. “We want students to touch, feel and experience the jobs that can be theirs with the right education and training.”

The Career Exploration Day is open to the public from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the Muse Center on the Rankin Campus.

The morning will focus on students beginning in eighth grade in the Pearl and Rankin County school districts who will participate in the Career Exploration Day.
