What does it cover?

Do I need to be enrolled in a specific number of credit hours to qualify for the initiative?
No, you can take as many credit hours as you’d like.
Do eBooks count, or is this only for physical books?
Yes, eBooks count! However, please note that lab fees, kits, or tools are not included—this initiative covers books only.
I’m still in high school. Can I enroll for the summer and receive free books?
Yes! You’ll need to apply to Hinds as a “Dual Enrollment” student and meet all the admissions requirements.
I’m taking an outside course through MSVCC, how will my book charges be covered?
If you’re taking a course through MSVCC, your book charges will be covered as long as the course uses eBooks.
When will the charges for my books be removed from my account?
There will be no book charges on your account for Summer 2025.
Is there a deadline?
Yes, students must complete all admission requirements and submit all necessary documents by the established registration deadline. Eligibility is also subject to the availability of seats in the courses!
How do I sign up?
STUDENTS NOT CURRENTLY ENROLLED
Students not currently enrolled in the Spring 2025 semester must apply to the Summer 2025 term, meet all admissions requirements, and be advised by a Hinds CC Advisor by the established registration deadline.
CURRENT HINDS CC STUDENTS
Current Hinds CC students enrolled in the Spring 2025 semester do not need to re-apply for admission. Just be sure to register for classes by the established registration deadline.

First Time College Students
Submit your official high school transcript and ACT scores. If you have not taken the ACT, take the ACCUPLACER at any Hinds campus. If you are still in high school, submit your final transcript after your graduation. If you received a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma, request your official HSE diploma transcript at www.diplomasender.com.
College Transfer Students
- Submit your official transcript from the most recent college attended. If you submit an in-progress transcript, you must submit another official transcript after all grades are posted.
- If your most recent college transcript does not show a “D” or higher in both English and Math, then submit official ACT or SAT scores, take the Accuplacer, or submit an additional college transcript showing English and Math grades.
