Do-it-yourselfers who want to learn a few basics about safety, carpentry, electricity, HVAC or plumbing before attempting it alone may be interested in Hinds’ summer homeowner and hobbyist courses.
The classes are open to the public at a cost of $100. The classes begin at the end of May and have individual schedules.
“There are a variety of courses that give people the know-how they need to fix a broken thermostat, conduct a home inspection, spot issues before they become problems, install a new lighting fixture or replace a faucet. Most people don’t know how to do these things, but there are a lot of folks out there who want to know. And we have the know-how to give them,” said Jason Webb, Dean of Construction and Manufacturing.
Courses include:
Raymond Campus: Hobby Welding, Welding and Cutting Technology, Homeowners HVAC, Homeowners Electrical, Small Engine Repair, Drafting/AutoCAD Interest Class
Career-Technical Education Building, Greenfield Road, Rankin Campus: Hobby Welding, Homeowners Electrical, Homeowners Plumbing
Vicksburg-Warren Campus: Homeowners DIY Course
