“The Military Appreciation Day brings the local resources to help service members and their families. It gives the military families a chance to have a one-stop shop with programs they may not have been aware existed,” said Ryan Braswell, coordinator of Veterans Services at Hinds Community College.

Military Appreciation Day at Hinds Community College features services targeting current and former service members, including the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Administration Vet Center and Veterans Benefit Administration to offer information to service members and their families about an array of benefits, Braswell said.

The day will also include family-friendly fun, including activities and free food. Additionally, Hinds employees, including counselors and financial aid advisers, will be on hand to offer information about education benefits service members might qualify for and how to use them at Hinds Community College.  Attendees can learn about career services, academic programs, health-related programs and other one- and two-year career and technical programs offered at Hinds.

The Office of Veterans’ Benefits will disseminate information on the GI Bill and other various VA Education Programs as well as scholarships available to service members.
