Honors – How To Join

Criteria & Application

All Honors Program students must have already applied for admission to Hinds Community College and must be enrolled as full-time students.

New college students may join the Hinds Honors Program under the following criteria:

  • Composite ACT score of 25 or higher. We do accept 25 as a superscore, or
  • Cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher (or a 4.0 scale).

Students who come to Hinds already having a college transcript are admitted under the following criteria:

  • Cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher on at least 12 hours of credit. Only college transfer-credit courses are considered for admission.

All students must complete the following:

Honors Program students must maintain a GPA above 3.25 to be considered in good standing in the Program.

Honors Courses

Honors courses and the Honors Forum class must be added to student schedules by College personnel. After applying for membership in the Honors Program, students should contact the Honors Program office to add their Honors-designated courses to their schedules.
