Why RUF?

What makes Hinds Community College RUF different? Although RUF is sent to the campus by the Presbyterian Church in America we welcome students from any and all walks of life. We are here for the “convinced” and the “unconvinced.” Students from a wide variety of church and religious backgrounds are involved in RUF on over a hundred campuses in the United States.

Some of the campuses in our area include Mississippi State University, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Memphis, Rhodes College, Delta State University, Mississippi College, Belhaven College, University of Southern Mississippi, Jackson State University, University of Tennessee and Holmes Community College.

What We Believe

Hinds Community College RUF holds to the core beliefs of historic Christianity which motivate our heart for God and love for the university. Some of these beliefs include the need for new life in Christ, the authority of the Scriptures, and the mission of the Church to reach and equip all people with the message of the gospel.

Although we may be familiar with the basic tenets of Christianity, many of us struggle to understand the full meaning of the gospel of Jesus Christ and to experience it in community with others. The purpose of Hinds Community College RUF, therefore, is to build a community on the college campus that reaches students of divergent beliefs and doubts with the message of the gospel and equips them to love and serve Jesus and his Church. The avenues through which we do this are:

• Large Group Bible Study: Monday nights 7 p.m. in the Student Union Reserve Lounge
• Small Group Bible Studies: Meet throughout the week at various times and locations
• One-on-One: Meetings with Chad

Activities

• Lunch: Every Friday @ 12:00 p.m. at various Restaurants throughout the Clinton/Jackson area.
• Ultimate: Every Monday after Large Group @ 8:30 on the soccer fields.
• Reservoir Day: skiing, tubing, wake boarding, and a whole lot more.
• Campouts: throughout the semesters.
• Fall Conference: @ Twin Lakes with the other RUF’s in Mississippi.
• Summer Conference: @ Panama City, Florida with RUF’s across the Nation.
• Missions Trips
• Intramurals and a whole host of other activities on and off campus
