Service Announcements

The Home.Hinds Web page portal, home.hindscc.edu, will be removed on Monday, June 30.
  Users who frequent these pages should be directed to the Faculty/Staff pages of the public Website, http://www.hindscc.edu/Faculty_Staff/. Users who currently have Home.Hinds as their home page will have to change it. If using Internet Explorer as a browser, go to the Faculty / Staff page, click the arrow beside the house icon on the browser, then select "Add or Change Home Page." In Firefox for MACs, under Preferences, choose the Main tab and set http://www.hindscc.edu/Faculty_Staff/ as default. In Firefox for PCs, go to Tools->Options->Main.
  Users will be able to view all of the Intranet content from anywhere in the world via a secure Hinds CC connection.
  To login, click on the Intranet button found on the left side of the Faculty / Staff page. Users MUST use the prefix — hinds\. Sample: Enter username: hinds\<username>, Enter password: <network password>. Thank you for your attention to this technology upgrade.

If you have material that needs to be shredded, please contact Amanda Caldecott at ajcaldecott@hindscc.edu. Give the amount you have to be shredded based on the number of boxes it will fill. We hope to have the Shred-It truck on campus at the end of July. Please note that if you do not notify the Physical Plant of your need, you will not be able to have your documents shredded. President Bush signed Iraq war funding legislation on May 25, 2007 that included provisions increasing the federal minimum wage. By law it’s time for minimum wages to be increased again. Hinds CC will be increasing work-study wages to $6.55/hour effective July 1, 2008 for the 2008-09 school year. For more information please call The Financial Aid Office at 601.857.3223.

Gene Stallings, former head football coach at the University of Alabama, will be a featured speaker on the Raymond Campus in Reeves 165, 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 9. He will speak on developing teamwork, improving morale and motivating people.The session is open to all Hinds employees and high school coaches and personnel in the Hinds district. All supervisors are strongly encouraged to attend. This event qualifies for Professional Development Institute (PDI) credit.

Beginning in the Fall of 2008, Hinds will be issuing a new way for students to receive refunds from Hinds, the Hinds Debit Card from Higher One. For more information click here.

The District Digest is on a summer schedule of being published every two weeks instead of weekly. The next issue will be for the weeks of June 29 - July 5 and July 6 - 12 which will be posted on June 26. Please keep this in mind when submitting events and notices.

Effective July 1, a current purchase order with available funds is required to purchase goods for pick-up or delivery from the HCC warehouse. Tickets will no longer be held until a purchase order is issued. There will be no exceptions. For more information contact Jesse Jones at 601.857.3567.

July 18, 2008, is the last day to issue a check from FY 2008 budgets. All remaining payments will be made from FY 2009 budgets. This date is three weeks after the close of our fiscal year. 




Charitables & Fundraisers

June 28, 6:30 p.m. The fourth annual Gospel Concert benefitting the Hollingsworth Family Scholarship for Law Enforcement at Hinds Community College will be held in Hogg Auditorium, Cain-Cochran Hall, Hinds CC Raymond Campus. Master of Ceremonies will be Hinds County Sheriff/Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillan. Performing will be Naomi Barnette, Jack Hollingsworth, and gospel groups Harmony and Grits, Born Again Quartet and Heaven’s Journey. Admission is a donation of any amount to the HCC Development Foundation for the Hollingsworth Law Enforcement Scholarship.
