Ensembles
The Department of Music offers many organizations for students interested in ensemble performance. Various small ensembles are developed each semester in the areas of brass, woodwinds, percussion, strings and voice.

String Ensemble
Guitar Ensemble is a small group that provides opportunity for guitar students to perform in a group setting. Musicians become acquainted with guitar ensemble repertoire with emphasis placed on the development of sight-reading skills.
Guitar Ensemble
Guitar Ensemble is required of all guitar majors, but is also open to other interested guitar students by audition. The ability to read music for guitar in first position is a prerequisite.

Chamber Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra is under the instruction of Dr. Perry Combs and provides string majors and other interested students first hand experience in the orchestra medium. Vocal Groups - Choir
Hinds Community College Choir is a non-auditioned choir under the direction of Terry Fletcher, and its members are from the student body of the Raymond Campus. Approximately one half of the choir members are music majors and approximately one third are voice majors. The choir performs annual Winter and Spring concerts on the Raymond campus in addition to numerous sacred concerts at churches in the Hinds district. The HCC Choir has performed at the American Choral Directors' Association Conventions at the state level. Members of the Hinds Choir have participated in National American Choral Directors Association Conventions in Phoenix, AZ and San Diego, CA. The HCC Choir has performed the Mozart Requiem in Mexico City, Mexico, the Verdi Requiem and Poulenc's Gloria with the University of Southern Mississippi Orchestra.
Vocal Groups - Clefs
Clefs is an auditioned vocal jazz ensemble of 8 to 10 students chosen from the Hinds Choir, and is under the direction of Terry Fletcher and Barney McCann. Auditions are held during the first week of school. Clefs repertoire consists of vocal jazz from the 1930's, to the 1990's.Clefs perform concerts throughout the Hinds district for various functions.
