Admission Information

Complete and submit the following:
Application for Admission to Hinds Community College
Application for Selection to the Associate Degree Nursing Program
• Validation of High School Graduation by official high school transcript, GED equivalency transcript, or college transcript.
Official Transcripts from all colleges attended (except Hinds CC)
American College Test (ACT) Composite Score of at least 18 (15 if taken before October, 1989)

Submit all completed forms (except NET) to:
Admissions Office, Nursing/Allied Health Center, 1750 Chadwick Drive, Jackson, MS 39204-3490
Submitting information to other locations will delay the processing of the applicant's file.


The following scores are required for program admission:
• ACT Subscores of 18 in reading and math (If taken before October 1989 - Math 15; Reading 16)
• GPA of 2.5 on high school course work or at least 20 hours of transferable college credit with GPA of 2.5

Process for Selection
• Deadline for file completion for fall class is March 31st. Deadline for file completion for spring class is September 30th.
• Individuals who have submitted all required admission criteria by the specified deadline will be considered for program admission based on a rating scale that includes: ACT Composite Score; ACT Math and Reading Subscores; GPA; previous certificates or degrees.
• Applicants not selected for a class may reapply for subsequent classes by submitting a new Application for Selection to the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

Criminal History
• A fingerprint background check is required as a part of the admission process. Individuals who have been convicted, pleaded guilty or pleaded no contest to certain felony crimes may be unable to attend clinical training or obtain employment in a licensed healthcare facility. For information on specific violations, check with the assistant dean of nursing.

Prerequisites to the First Clinical Course
• Must have completed Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs and Introduction to Sociology.
• Science courses taken prior to admission must have been completed with a grade of C or better, within five years of entering the first nursing class.
• A physical examination documented on the Nursing/Allied Health Center health form completed within three months prior to the first nursing course. Required immunizations must be current. Required health form will be provided at the time of registration.
• Current C.P.R card issued by the American Heart Association at Healthcare Provider level.
