Federal Loan Application Process
In order for your loan application to be processed, you must have in-hand your award letter that was sent from the Office of Financial Aid, and
satisfy the following requirements

Step 1
Federal Stafford Loan Certification Process
(Must complete)
Step 2
Stafford Entrance Counseling
U.S. Department of Education regulations require all first time borrowers of Federal Stafford Loans at a university or college to complete Entrance Loan Counseling. If this is your first time applying for a loan with Hinds Community College you must complete the entrance counseling process.
Step 3
Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note
A promissory note is a binding legal document that lists the conditions and terms under which your money will be disbursed. Promissory notes are good for a maximum of ten years as long as the same lender is used at the same institution. Please note if you have not completed a promissory note with your lender loan funds will not be disbursed.
Important Student Loan Information
To check the
status of your student loan
A student must be enrolled in at least six (6) semester hours at the time of disbursement and all admissions requirements must be completed.
All first time borrowers at Hinds Community College must complete an
Stafford Entrance Counseling
form before any money will be disbursed.
Student must complete a
Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note
with lender before loan funds can be disbursed.
