Programs Of Study
Academic Academic core courses and electives may be taken for college transfer or for an Associate of Arts Degree (AA). Academic courses are easily transferred to 4-year colleges and universities. The completion of 64 hours of a designated program of study and graduation from Hinds waives the general education curriculum of 30 hours at any MS four-year public institution.
Public and Private Four-Year College Transfer
Two plus Two Agreements Hinds Community College has two plus two agreements with Delta State University and the University of Southern Mississippi to offer junior and senior level courses at one of our six locations after completion of the Associate of Art degree program at Hinds. Hinds students can work toward a bachelor's degree
from the respective college or university without having to leave the
Jackson Metro area.
Additional two plus two agreements are honored with Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, and the University of Louisiana Monroe in order to assist students with a seamless transition from the community college to the four year institute and to provide a detailed plan of study in a baccalaureate degree-granting academic program.
Technical Hinds technical programs of study offer a wide variety of one-year technical certificates and two-year Associate in Applied Science degrees. These graduates are prepared for immediate employment in their field of study. A limited number of pre-approved technical courses will transfer to four year institutions and can be applied to a bachelor’s degree.
Career Career programs of study offer one-year and two-year certificate programs that prepare the student for immediate employment in their chosen occupation. Career programs are often valuable in updating skills and knowledge for employed workers in business and industry.
Health Related Professions Accessible, affordable, quality education with an emphasis on health care careers, the goal of the Health Related Professions program is to prepare competent, caring health care providers. We offer Nursing and Allied Health programs, short term health care courses, and continuing education classes.
